Every strain and sprain,
Every ache and pain,
Recorded and blogged,
Every activity logged.
Janathon has a special place in my heart,
Blogging has now become a fine art,
Excuses are now second nature,
As I lounge around at my leisure.
So what to to with the rest of the year,
I could sit on my ever increasing rear,
But no I hear you scream and shout,
As Junathon would be a complete blow out.
Bye bye for Janathon 2012.
Hope to speak to you again soon.

Oh yeah and exercise completed: 15 mins on cross trainer, distance covered: 6.1km

Today's the day the kitchen got ripped out.
You have to laugh at the guy who fitted it originally.
There were some peculiar finds I can tell you. Mainly with wiring which is worrying!
Never-the-less the kitchen is no more.
I have also dismantelled the cooker hood and I am half way through spraying the railing and light fixtures chrome to match the cooker. Should look good against the black if it works. Alas not much time to exercise today and needed to be in the house for the kitchen stripper (would be good if they were fit blokes but were a very nice husband and wife team instead who stripped the kitchen I hasten to add not themselves). So I resorted to 100 x length of the hall. This was completed in 7mins and 7 secs.
Now I'm off to pick up Catriona from her new dance class. Not a true dance class but a fun class with some dance thrown in. See if she enjoyed herself today as exercise should always be about having fun at the same time. Your more likely to do it then.
Right one more day of Janathon.
Bye for now folks.

Today is gut the kitchen day.
The units are getting ripped out tommorrow so I need to empty everything before hand. I tell you, I never knew the Kitchen could hold so much! Box after box getting carted either to the spare bedroom or to the make shift kitchen on the dining room table.
After a couple of hours of shifting over filled boxed and only loosing the bottom out of one, it was time to dance with Catriona. This is the official exercise of the day. 30 minutes of making a prat of myself. Its quite fun really and I sweated so exercise completed with a smile on my face (got great pain killers for the ear which I think is actually getting better slowly. Either that or I just cannot feel it lol).

My poor wee girl spent most of last night coughing so she's very tired this morning. Decided dance class is a bad idea for her. I'm not complaining as my ear is still throbbing too. Husband must nag too much lol xxx
I've done a small amount of running around today, tell me a mother with a small child who doesn't, but nothing to count as exercise. As I was full of pain killers then jogging up and down the corridor seemed like a good idea. So 100 x up and down I went to gt my 1km. This time in 7 mins and 10 secs. Nothing grand but better than nothing.
Speak tommorrow. xxx

I was hoping that when I woke this morning the ear ache (the medical term not the husband) would have gone. But alas no. Really sore still. No time to try and get to the doctors as fully booked today. Never mind, thats what pain killers are for.
Kitchen has been delivered as has my groceries. Just need to get the paper work finished and the wall paper removed from the kitchen before 12.30pm as the school is having a Scottish Afternoon starting at 1pm and Catriona expects me to be there. I managed to complete everything but couldn't face exercise that involved bounce or cold. So I walked the length of my corridor 100 times (1km). What scares me is that it dodn't take much longer than me jogging it! Either I'm a darn fast walker or a very slow runner. Probably both lol. Time taken 8 1/2 mins.
Right off to see Gran, then tea, then I'm a taxi for Catriona, then more paper work, taxi again, bed!

I'm not too sort this morning after start jump hell for pelvic floor class yesterday. Bonus.
Off to the stretch beyond recognition and hold the pose in pain class today.....also known as body balance. I usually do a warm up run or something first but due to the cold and now a re-occurance of an ear infection from only a couple of weeks back..... I can't be bothered. Oops shouldn't really say that but its true.
Completed the hour torture stretching class then back home to clean the house and move the fridge and freezer ready for the kitchen being ripped out next week. Nothing like a bit of weight training.
After slaving away all afternoon at home, back to the swimming pool for Catriona's swimming lesson. Ear is now agony and I really don't want to go into the pool. But in I go. I only managed 20 lengths. Excuse.... pool was busy and if you take into account the mobile round abouts I probably did 30 lengths....real reason....sore ear, feeling sorry for self and well couldn't be bothered. Went into the sauna instead. I sweated....does that could as exercise? lol xxx

Heavy cold + star jumps = bad pelvic floor!
Why do we do this to ourselves. I know I can exercise but star jumps are a jump too far for the weakened pelvic floor and the new body attack class has lots of star jumps. But silly me.... I still go! But I'm not the only one. Oh no..... I dash to the loo between tracks and so do 5 other women. You have to laugh. No wonder there are numerous toilets outside the main dance studio.
So.... 45 minutes later I am reduced to a puddle. (thats a puddle of sweat by the way...I did make it to the toilet in time). Slightly worse than usual sweating today as I am loaded with the cold. However, I think I have succeded in sweating most of the cold out. Score! Definately going to work on those pelvic floor exercises some more though. xxx

Oops, nearly forgot to log and blog for today. Didn't exercise till tea time and then it went out of my mind. Never mind I'm here now.
Lots of running about as usual today. First of all the day started out relaxing with a friend coming over for a cuppa and to discuss arts and craft. After that I had to go an get fencing. Fitting 3 x 12ft railings into the car was some what interesting. But along with the 8ft post and 6ft slats, we managed it. Finally I had to take the trailer up to a farm to get a load of equipment. Lots of weight training today.
After finding insurance for an elderly friend it was tea time. Where had the day gone?
I managed to squeeze in 15 minutes whilst tea was cooking on the cross trainer standy up bike thingy and covered what it says was 6.04km.
Who am I to argue?
Right must dash.
Only a week to go. Keep up the hard work everyone. Nearly there. xxx

What a beautiful day. Just as well and I needed to drop my car into the garage at Carnwath and walking home then walking back to pick it up. 3 mile round trip (4.8km).
So Catriona was deposited on the school bus, I walked home and jumped in the car and drove it to the garage. Time to head back. I never realised that my home was almost on top of a hill. More up then down that was for sure.
Made walking back for the car a lot easier though and made all the better by the sun being out. Need ear muffs next time though and the cold was a bit sore on the old ears. Feel great after a brisk walk and some sunshine. Should really do it more often.
Distance 4.8km
Total time 39 mins.
Pooped!

Oh... just a quicky today.
Not much time.
Morning visiting the mother-in-law....lovely. Then home, lunch and back out with hubby to shop. Nothing exciting unfortunatley, just work stuff and some groceries. By the time we had returned it was nearly tea time so once the house work was up to date and tea on, well not much time for anything else. Alas it was the hall dash today. 100 laps of the hall in 7 mins and 18 secs (1km ish) whilst tea was cooking.
Need a glass of wine after that.
Only a week (ish) to go folks. Keep up the good work xxx

There she blows......
What a windy day it is.............again.
I managed a 3.2km walk whilst Catriona was at dance class. The first 1.6km went really quickly as the wind was behind me. I was practically flying along, literally. The return journay was another story. I think you could walk on the spot quite happily for a long time. Never the less total time was 23 mins.
Also just spent the good part of an hour tidying up Catriona's room after she and a couple of friends had been playing in there. Playing is not the word I would have used, purposely making a mess and emptying everything out onto the floor is what I would have called it, but they had fun. Can I put that towards my exercise count?

Well what a busy day.
No I'm not starting to make excuses but it really has been a hectic day and its not over yet.
New contractor starting so needed to get him all kitted out and everything ordered.
My car has a stuck calipor and so is not drivable and so had to try and get a hire car delivered at short notice (managed eventually. I was suprised at large rental places not open on a Friday?)
End of week paper work gets done today, invoices etc and I'm trying to re-silicon the bath at the same time.
Nutter I know.
Anyway, enough blurb about nothing to do with exercise. As i've been busy I ran 100x up and down the corridor today which took 7 mins 15 secs. (1km ish). I think I've also walked it another 100x but I'll not mention that as it wasn't timed lol.
Oh and I did do the 1km swim yesterday......just.....there were lots of folk in the pool and so I probably did further going around the mobile round abouts. Great work out for the obliques.
Till a hopefully calmer tommorrow.

MY BUTTOCKS HURT!
Fast lunges are no good if you don't like pain.
Will I never learn not to give 110% on the first time in a class.... probably not.
Today is gym day too... ha ha ha ha
Oh boy.... I'm getting to old for this. Think I should do easy walking round the block (mind you the weather is aweful so get froze and soaked or hurt hhhmmm).
Right gym day. Never mind a constipated penguin that I resembled last week, today I feel like I'm wearing a nappy with a lead weight in it. Well I feel thats how I'm walking anyway, but thought the Body Balance class would do good as there is lots of stretching. WRONG I HURT MORE THAN BEFORE.
Still I managed 2km on the treadmill (I jogged folks...finally) in 12.5mins, then did 1 hour of Bady Balance (Yoga, Pilate stuff) and later I'm off to swim whilst my daughter has her swimming lesson. I know I've logged the swim before I've done it but I will do it and if I don't manage then I'll change the blog. Too many witnesses at the pool to lie. I'll do 40 lengths (1km) in 25 mins. Thats my usual anyway.
Right. Off to remove silicon from the bath.....Never ending.

It was the return of the Body Attack today.....
My friend wanted to try something new, so I booked us all in to the Body Attack class. What was I thinking! I struggled in the class and that was over 5 years ago!!
I was actually slightly nervous going to the class today. Not only was it the first time I'd been in 5 years, it was at a venue that I didn't normally go to so had no idea where the class was or what the instructor was like.
Well it actually turned out okay. Yes my calves are sore again, yes I sweated copious amounts and thought I was actually a witch that was melting but I made it to the end. Maybe the fact that the class was 15 minutes shorter than it used to be helped, you could see the end coming quicker. I think 15 more minutes would have finished me off into a simmer pool of nothingness.
I may not be so bouyant tomorrow but feeling okay now just a tad tired. So 45 minutes of high intensity aerobics done. Wippy. You know what though... how stupid am I.... I've booked up for next week! Hope I can walk again by then. xxx

Well now that we are more than half way through I thought that I would have a look at the totals of everyone entering so far and see how we are getting on. Wow there are some awesome totals. I'm right bang in the middle which I am chuffed with considering I'm not actually jogging everyday, just trying to exercise daily (that's a challenge for me in itself).
Today I am a lady that lunches so I'm off to a friends to be looked after. Ahhh means little time to exercise again so I decided just to get it out of the way today. Maybe not the right attitude, I should be putting time aside. Blah, I'm doing that tommorrow and Thursday. Today will just be a rushed job to get something on the board. So after making sure the cheeky monkey got on the school bus I darted back home and put on some good tracks and did 6.09km on the cross trainer standy up bike thing in 15 mins. Now sweaty I'm off to wash and change then get more paper work and orders done before having my lunch made for me. Yum Yum.
Till tommorrow peeps. You keep it up only 2 weeks to go xxx

What a beautiful day. Wouldn't like to stand still though as you might just freeze to the spot.
As I'm not much good at ice skating I decided that for my exercise today I would wait until my daughter came home from school and we could do some dancing together.
So after paper work paper work paper work and just a bit more paper work I let me hair down (not that it was actually up but you know what I mean) and danced to the Wii dance 3 for 30 mins. I'm not getting any better, not if you use my daughters laughing as a guide to ability! All I can say is she's no better either so we make a good pair lol.
Feeling fab now and sweaty.

Today is the day the whirlwinds have their birthday party. The whirlwinds are six year old twins. The nickname given to them by their mother, not me. Anyway it's their 6th birthday party today and the whole class including Catriona, have been invited.
So, house work completed in the morning, items for hubbies work all prepared, lunch made, ironing done, daughter dressed and hair brushed and straightened and off the party we go collecting Catriona's friend on the way. Not much time for exercise in the morning then. However, plenty to be had at the party with dance competitions and general running around (can I count that in as exercise).
Well once home again it was time to organise tea then get Catriona ready for bath and bed etc etc....a mothers job is never done. So what I am trying to say is as usual i had very little time for exercise (am I getting good with the excuses yet?). However, whilst dinner was cooking I did the corridor dash. 100 laps of the corridor measuring a total of about 1km. Time take 7 mins 9 seconds. At least I tried xxx.

I can walk again..... nearly.
If I screw my face up I can walk normally. Not that bad at all today actually. Calves only hurt if I think about it. They actually feel like the day after a good work out rather than painful.
The weather is not fantastic but I need to get out. I'm not going to try and jog yet, that would be stupid so a bit of walking this morning whilst my daughter is at dance class.
Managed the 3.2km but took a little longer than last week. This week did it in 28 mins.
Still I got out and did something. Off to sit on my butt now, maybe with a glass of medicinal wine (again).

Okay, so I am still waddling around like a constipated penguin!

The day outside is glorious, the sun is shining, okay its cold but penguins like the cold.... but the calf muscles are still not wanting to co-operate and as for the stomach muscles after yesterdays class, well they have obviously gone on vacation with the legs leaving behind a empty void of pain! A brisk walk is out of the question when a waddle is all that can be managed! Definately no jogging, that uses the calves ......back to the cross trainer. If the music is up loud enough I'll not hear myself screamming lol.
Never mind. 15 mins done and 5.87km covered (on the bike style one at home, not the proper gym one that makes you sweat trying to get to those type of speeds).
Roll on tommorrow when I might be able to sit up....get out of bed.... and walk......xxx
Hope everyone else is having fun.

January 12th 2012
Its gym day today. Back to some routine after the festive period when the wee one was off school.
I still cannot walk as the calf muscles are still bricks and very sore but I'm booked into the body balance class. An hour of yoga, tai chi and pilates all combined into one class. Lovely and relaxing yet very sore, especially when your expected to go up on tip toes. I don't like going straight into this class with cold muscles as there is lots of painful stretching so usually I jog first. This today is not an option when walking alone is a problem so I managed 15 minutes on a cross-trainer first (3km in the bag - result).
Unfortunately for me, Thursdays are also the day my daughter has her swimming lesson. So rather than sit around drinking coffee which would be my preferred pass time, I usually go into the pool too and do some lengths then pop into the sauna to chill. I managed 40 lengths today (up 10 on the usual so happy with that) in 24 minutes so thats another 1 km in the bag.
Gonna feel it tommorrow xxx

January 11th 2012
This morning I was stuck with ideas of what form of exercise to do. You see after skipping yesterday my calf muscles were that tight that if I pulled my toes up I felt like the calf muscle would snap and if I point my toes I received instant cramp.
I decided on digging out the old bike and doing a three mile cycle (only 3 miles as there are lots of hills and I am not a cyclist by any stretch of anyones imagination and I'm already in pain. I didn't want sore buttocks too). What I didn't realise was that over Christmas my bike had turned into the bike of doom!
I dug the bike out, gave it a quick rub down to get the dust off, inflated the semi-flat tyres and set my stop watch (don't know why I did this, not like I'm going to break any records). Off I set. I decided to tackle the very steep hill first to get it out of the way. Doing the route in reverse would mean a slow long hill the other way and I didn't fancy that for the first time on my bike in many many months. Short and sharp sounded better. Just as I approached the top of the hill there came a strange annoying bumble bee sound from my rear tyre. So off I hopped for the first time to investigate. At first I couldn't see anything. The brakes were aligned okay so on I popped again. Alas the noise was still there. So off I hopped again. It appeared that whilst I had got my gears serviced at the beginning of winter, my rear wheel had not been put back correctly and so was rubbing ever so slightly on the frame of the bike. I had a choice. Either go back, sort the wheel and try again (this could potentially take hours for me to achieve and would result in no exercise) or continue on my way sounding like a distressed blue bottle. I opted to continue. Well if I didn't put the buttocks too far back the noise wasn't that bad. So off I toddled on my way....buzz buzz buzz. Apart from the noise everything seemed okay. The gears were pants (note to self....find somewhere else to get bike serviced!) but the first two miles went not too bad. The last mile is the really hilly section. So after free wheeling and not moving for a metre or so, finally I found a gear and tackled the first incline buzz buzz buzz. At the top finally thought I could get some speed up ready for the second incline. CLONK! chain fell off. So for the third time I hopped off the bike, sorted the chain and got on again. Wee down the hill but after spending numerous seconds trying to find a gear again lost all momentum for the next incline and hence had to slog my way back up. At the top of the next hill thought I'd have one more bash at getting speed up ready for the final hill. Bike said NO! Chain off again. Off I got yet again, sorted chain, on I got again, pushed off to go, chain off again AAAHHHHH. Pattern forming here. Decision, throw bike over hedge and walk home or laugh (don't know what passing motorists thought at me laughing at the side of the road). Chain back on. Third attempt. Well I decided not to bother trying to change gears this time so off I set down the last hill doing 1900 rpm to gather speed but alas didn't get to use the speed to get up the hill as needed to break to get round the 90 degree corner.
Home as last but you can't say I didn't have a work out!!!
3 miles in 22 mins (including hopping on and off countless times and fixing chain).
Think I'll try something else next time xxx

What to do what to do........................
I wanted to do a variety of different things during January as I'll never complete great distances jogging though I will do jogging at times through out the week. I think today I'll dig out the skipping rope. I've not done skipping in a long time ....a really long time.....so I'll need to suck up that pelvic floor to prevent any puddles. Glad my daughter is at school so she cannot laugh at me. I don't think I'll manage a long time (well how long can you hold your breath whilst sucking up your pelvic floor.....not long) so I'll do some dance party afterwards to build up my time and sweat some more. Back soon to report.....probably sooner than you think lol.....
POOPED! 10 mins skipping which started the sweating. Calf muscle a tad tight so will need to go stretch that out. Managed longer than I thought but can't jump both feet together. That's just too much presure on the pelvic floor. Managed 20 mins dancing which made me sweat copious amounts (well the section did say ''just sweat'' and I complied). The dance still felt easy compared to the skipping though. Apparently I danced enough to cover the distance across Central Park. No idea how far that is. Anyway. Sweaty and feel like I've done something so freshen up and then back to the paper work boooo!

Okay okay so the hubby is better at excuses than I am. We never got to walk like I had planned. Catriona also wanted on her roller boots once back from school so spend a fair bit of time trying to keep her up right walking up and down the drive way. Thats exercise.....
However, I needed to do something so managed 15 minutes on the cross-trainer. At 24.5km/h that works out at 6.13km. Take the distance with a pinch of salt as its not your bog standard epilitical machine. Its more like a stand up bike. Never the less its exercise, it raises the heart rate and makes you sweat. Thats all that matters to me.
Right off to eat some rabbit food....sorry salad....yum yum

Went to the pantomine at Kings Theatre in Glasgow today. What a laugh. As it was the last day of the Panto the stage crew were playing jokes on the cast and the cast couldn't stop laughing. It was hilarious. Think I'll book this coming years panto in advance so that I can get seats for the last day again.
Well as a result of having to travel to Glasgow and back I was very limited on time today. So to make sure I did something I pounded up and down the corridor again. 1km in 7 mins 22 secs. At least the schools go back tommorrow so I'll have a bit more time (oh no need to think of some really good excuses now.....did I mention that my right knee and hip were still sore from Friday ......).
Anyway hoping to power walk tommorrow. Might even drag the hubby out with me. There see... resistence training too....
See you all tommorrow

OUCH!.... no no no I've not got a hang over..... its the muscles after attempting my first jog in a lot of weeks.
The neck, arms, shoulders, back, buttocks and quads are all sore!! So much for the idea of going for a jog this morning whilst Catriona is at dance class. A brisk walk was all I could manage. Getting in and out of the car is a struggle alone never mind anything else. So POWER WALK (with lots of wincing) today. Distance 2 miles, time 24 mins. Not great I know but again better than nothing.
Need more wine....medicinal purposes you understand xxx

Woopy its my birthday today.
Was feeling good until my daughter asked me if I was 63 years old!
Anyway....I managed to finally jog today. Not outside as it is chiffin freezing ...but at the gym.
I had to tell a wee porky to get there. Normally my mother-in-law keeps an eye on my daughter whilst I get the shopping done on a Friday when the schools are off. Well I had the shopping delivered yesterday so that I could nip to the gym during 'shopping' time. What she doen't know doesn't hurt. I never actually lied I just never said I was going shopping....
Anyway. This is the fist time jogging for well over a month and I can feel it. After the first 5 mins I could feel the Christmas pud and wine which had attached itelf to my bottom and thighs, jiggling. This was followed by a pins a needles sensation as the blood flow fought its way through the clogged arteries and veins. I'm just glad there is a lack of mirrors, especially rear view ones, in the gym!
Completed 4.55km in 30 mins. Was aiming for 5km but was restricted on time. Better than nothing.
Off now for a meal out and more wine so that I can commence the jiggle again later on in the week. Maybe even tommorrow depending on wine consumption tonight xxx

Ah today is calm. No wind or rain (now). I have visitors coming, and the sky repair man, and the shopping so also no outside running today (I'm getting good with the excuses). I did however put on the Dance Party 3 on the wii this morning. Thought my daughter could do with another laugh. You never know she might actually join in one of these days. Completed 30 mins before breathing became an issue. If I could get the routines right it would probably be fairly easy but I am a long way from that stage. Right off to tackle the bathroom and maybe pop my head into the spare room where so far everything has been dumped after Christmas. Not looking foward to that. If you don't hear from me tommorrow I will still be lost in the room unable to find the door to escape.
Bye for now xxx

Well if I went out side for a jog today it would take 4 mins to do a mile one way and 4 hours to get back. Talk about windy...oh yeah and wet! I like sport....but not that much..... so its the hall dash today to make it look like I've done something. What am I talking about.....of course I've done something. I've ironed, taken down the Christmas decorations and trees, tidy and cleaned the house top to bottom except for two rooms, ran after my daughter....think that would add up to enough. However, just in case, 100 laps of the corridor completed. The corridor is 10.5 to 11m long but to take into account turns etc I've said its 10m so 100 length is 1km (ish). Today this took 7 mins 15 seconds. Gave my daughter another reason to laugh. Never changed into the sports bra. Not easy jogging in a narrow corridor holding your boobs.....
On that note TTFN xxx

My goodness its a windy one today. Nothing to do with the sprouts over Christmas I hasten to add, I am commenting on the weather. I helped my husband support one section of fence threatening to fall down in the wind only to watch another section hit the floor. The fence itself was fine but the stabs holding it in place snapped clean in half. More outside work to be done. Other than that we only lost 2 roof tiles so hopefully we have got away lightly (as long as the wind dies down and stays that way).
Off to work this morning was also tricky. Every road we took had a tree down but got there in the end. Back home now and as with yesterday did a quick blast on the x-trainer. Upped the time by 5 mins but nothing too much as I've not done anything for at least a month and I don't want to burn out in the first week of Janathon.
So 20 mins on the stand up bike I call it. It is a x-trainer epilitical type but you do seem to be able to cover great distances on it as if you were just on a bike standing up. Distance covered was 8.1km.
Right must dash, I hear my daughter calling to assemble her barbie trailer...oh the joys....its never ending.
Bye for now peeps.

January 2nd 2012
My goodness its cold outside. I helped my husband at work today which happens to be outside. Not amuzing!! Didn't leave much time for exercise either but it was a good excuse to get on the x-trainer as soon as we all got home. I'll never complete huge distances running (or jogging) so I'm going for variety and aiming to complete something every day. So yesterday dancing today x-trainer. I completed 15 mins which is 6.2km on the stand up bike type X-trainer. This was followed by 30 sit ups and 15 star jumps as instructed by my 5-year old. No easy training regime in this house I tell you lots of laughs.
Well I hope everyone is feeling bright and breezy today as you have another 29 days to go.
See you all tommorrow xxx

January 1st 2012
Happy New Year to you all.
Hope everyone’s head is not too sore from partying the night before. Me…. I’m fine but mainly because I am on antibiotics for an ear infection so keeping the drinking down even though it doesn’t say to avoid alcohol.
Well Janathon has started. I haven’t but Janathon has. I had guests coming for New Years day dinner so all morning I was preparing dinner and so had little time to exercise. However, after lunch I did get the Just Dance 3 out once the guests had gone. That’s exercise. I sweated lots so it’s definitely exercise. Maybe not straight line jogging but it raises the heart rate and that’s what matters. I did get the game out for my daughter. However, she sat clapping and laughing at me. Something definitely wrong there!!! So 40 minutes completed dancing and making a complete fool of myself (nothing new there).
See you all tomorrow when there are less sore heads about. Xxx
